One of the projects that was nominated for 2009 RIBA Stirling Prize was Liverpool ONE, the new shopping district in the centre of Liverpool.

Building Design Partnership were the architects, masterplanners and landscape with lighting by BDP across the whole scheme.

Liverpool ONE is a large scale regeneration project that has transformed Liverpool’s city centre. The lighting to the new public spaces within Liverpool ONE responds to the retail spaces, cinemas, park, restaurants, bars and cafes linking them together to aid orientation, enhance visitor experience, encourage visitors to stay on into the night and help create a visual landmark and identity.

With 36 new buildings and 26 different architects involved in this large scale development, the lighting design delivers a consistently cohesive scheme within the public realm and to the architecturally unique buildings, creating intimacy and human scale to the public spaces.
