Diana Joels is a Lighting Designer with engagement in architectural lighting since the year 2000, when she was working at the same time as still studying Architecture and Urban Planning, in Rio de Janeiro. In 2005, she left Rio and her position of Associated-architect at the lighting design practice Maneco Quinderé & Associados, to take the Master Program at the Lighting Laboratory, in Stockholm. The post-graduate education was followed by two and a half years in Barcelona, where she worked at the awarded architectural lighting company artec3, lately as the lighting department team leader. Since September 2009, she is back to KTH, now as lecturer. Part of the background influencing her way of looking at and seeing light and lighting, is also the fact of being a daughter of ZéLuis Joels, well-recognized stage lighting designer and pioneer lighting businessman in Brazil.
